A note from the author
I am delighted to write to support St Lawrence Players in their production of Murdered
to Death.
Murdered to Death was the second of the seven plays I have written to date and
it was conceived as a lighthearted spoof of "all things Agatha Christie". When I
wrote it I was uncertain as to how it would be received. I thought that perhaps the time
for this type of play had passed. How wrong can you be! The popularity of the play has
proved that there is a wide spectrum of people who enjoy the blend of 'whodunit / comedy /
mystery / spoof'. So much so that recently I wrote the sequel entitled Secondary Cause
of Death, which features, once again, the inept Inspector Pratt.
Writing is not my full-time occupation and I am often asked why I do it and how I get
the ideas for my plays! The first question is easy to answer. I write because I get an
immense satisfaction from seeing people enjoy the end result. As to the ideas, if I could
answer that question easily then perhaps I would be a full-time writer!
I hope that you enjoy the play tonight. If it makes you scratch your head, laugh and
even occasionally wince, then Pratt and his motley assortment of fellow characters have
done their job!
I wish St Lawrence Players every success with their production of Murdered to Death.
Regards,
Peter Gordon
