My early parts were back in distant days When cast as trees and swordsmen in those plays That, disappearing quickly from the mind, Have left their mark but only on the few That rarely begged the utterance of my tongue! From recent days some memories spill forth: An Odd Couple but two that spring to mind, Which drew from some a smile when they beheld The joy of Simon's writing, full of fun. For me the best performance I recall: That of a woman broken by a nation's call, Betraying friendships, never to rebuild A heart that broke with every lie required. She made me cry, within A Pack of Lies. Enriching joys of acting have no bounds When friends and love can on our stage be found.
